ASUS (ASUSTeK Computer Inc.) is a Taiwan-based global computer and electronics manufacturer best known for PCs and PC hardware. Its product portfolio includes laptops and notebooks, desktop PCs, motherboards, graphics cards, gaming computers and peripherals, monitors, networking equipment, servers, and other consumer electronics. ASUS has particularly strong recognition in PC components and gaming through its Republic of Gamers (ROG) brand. Manufacturing and final assembly are distributed across a network of contract manufacturing partners, with significant production operations in mainland China as well as Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, and other Asian locations. ASUS's published supplier data identifies numerous facilities specifically as Final Assembly Factories, including Compal, Inventec, Wistron, Qisda, and other manufacturing partners.
Battery capacity deteriorates, drains unusually fast, stops accepting a charge, or the device shuts down when disconnected from AC power. In more severe cases, battery swelling can deform the chassis or display assembly.
The system overheats or thermal-throttles because of clogged cooling assemblies, degraded thermal interface material, or failing fans. ROG and TUF gaming models are particularly susceptible to thermal stress because of their high-power CPUs and GPUs.
The motherboard develops a fault that causes no-power, no-boot, random shutdown, charging, or peripheral-related failures. Board-level component failure can require motherboard replacement or specialized microsoldering repair.
The internal display becomes black, flickers, develops distorted graphics, dead areas, or loses its backlight despite the computer otherwise operating. Failures can originate in the LCD/OLED panel, display connection, or associated display circuitry.
Hinges loosen, bind, crack, or separate from their mounting points, causing the lid to become unstable or difficult to open and close. Continued use can damage the display housing, cables, or surrounding chassis.
One or more cooling fans become noisy, grind, intermittently stop, or fail completely. Reduced airflow subsequently causes elevated temperatures, thermal throttling, shutdowns, and potentially accelerated component degradation.
The DC-in or USB-C charging connector becomes loose, damaged, or electrically defective, producing intermittent or complete charging failure. Damaged internal contacts can also prevent connected USB-C devices or power-delivery adapters from being detected.
Individual keys, key mechanisms, keyboard backlighting, touchpad components, buttons, or related input hardware become intermittent or non-functional. Heavy mechanical use and physical wear are common contributors to these failures.
Internal storage interfaces or removable-media readers stop detecting media, disconnect intermittently, or generate read/write errors. The ROG Ally family is particularly associated with SD-card-reader failures, while ASUS notebooks can also develop faults affecting SD slots and motherboard-connected storage interfaces.
