ASRock Inc. is a Taiwanese computer-hardware OEM/brand established in 2002 and part of the Pegatron group. It is best known for PC motherboards, particularly products spanning mainstream, enthusiast, and gaming desktops, and has expanded into graphics cards, mini PCs, gaming monitors, power supplies, industrial computers, and server/workstation hardware. ASRock focuses primarily on product development, engineering, branding, and sales while outsourcing production to contract manufacturers rather than operating its own large-scale manufacturing plants. The company has built a global reputation around motherboards and PC components, including its enthusiast-oriented Taichi, Phantom Gaming, and Steel Legend product families.
System powers on with fans or LEDs active but fails to complete POST or reach the BIOS/operating system. Reported causes commonly involve memory initialization, BIOS configuration or firmware, CPU initialization, or connected PCIe devices.
One or more DIMMs may not be detected, or the motherboard can remain stuck on the DRAM diagnostic LED during startup. DDR5/XMP/EXPO configurations are frequently associated with long training, intermittent booting, restart failures, or systems that boot with one DIMM but not two or four.
A BIOS update can occasionally leave a system unable to boot normally, frozen at the ASRock splash screen, or repeatedly failing POST. Some reported systems recover after clearing CMOS, restoring defaults, or reverting to an earlier working BIOS revision.
The motherboard may fail to recognize a discrete graphics card, producing a VGA diagnostic light, POST error, or completely blank display. Reseating the GPU, changing PCIe slots, clearing CMOS, or testing another graphics card are common diagnostic steps.
USB peripherals may fail to initialize or can prevent the motherboard from completing POST. ASRock diagnostic codes specifically identify USB-device faults, and troubleshooting typically involves disconnecting USB devices and reconnecting them individually.
SATA or M.2/NVMe drives can disappear from firmware detection or fail to appear as bootable devices. Symptoms include a persistent BOOT diagnostic LED, failure to load the operating system, or the system unexpectedly selecting another available drive.
Onboard Ethernet can intermittently disconnect, negotiate at reduced speeds, or fail to recognize an attached network cable. Depending on the controller and motherboard generation, driver, firmware/NVM, BIOS, or physical-controller issues can be responsible.
Some systems fail to wake correctly from sleep, leaving the machine running without usable display or peripheral functionality. ASRock's POST diagnostics explicitly include S3 resume failures, while some platforms have also exhibited network functionality problems after waking.
On ASRock graphics cards, reported cooling failures include fans that fail to start or operate correctly under load, allowing GPU temperatures to rise abnormally. Fan-control, firmware, connector, or physical fan faults can produce overheating, throttling, instability, or shutdowns.
