ARTEL repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Artel Video Systems is a U.S. manufacturer specializing in professional broadcast and mission-critical video, audio, and data transport hardware for fiber-optic and IP networks. Founded in 1981, the company is known particularly for its DigiLink, InfinityLink, FiberLink, and Quarra product families, covering media-over-fiber/IP transport, optical multiplexing, Ethernet switching, precision PTP timing, IP streaming, routing, and related broadcast-network infrastructure. Its equipment is deployed by broadcasters, telecommunications companies, CATV operators, government organizations, sports-production networks, and other professional media users; Artel states that it pioneered the first commercially available video-over-fiber transport platform. In 2024, Artel was acquired by Patton, adding its broadcast/IP transport products to Patton's FiberPlex-oriented portfolio.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Power Supply Failure

Internal or external power supplies can fail to deliver operating voltage, resulting in a dead chassis, unlit power/status LEDs, or a major PSU alarm. Artel specifically identifies internal PSU failure, loss of input power, and PSU communication faults among common causes of power alarms.

Cooling Fan Failure

Chassis and power-supply fans can slow down or stop, producing temperature warnings or major fan alarms. DigiLink and InfinityLink systems may require replacement of the affected power supply or complete fan tray when fan operation is lost.

Optical SFP Transceiver Failure

SFP/SFP+/XFP optical modules can develop transmitter or receiver faults, causing loss of optical transmission, red status indications, or complete link failure. Artel modules explicitly monitor for missing SFPs, TX faults, RX faults, and abnormally low optical receive power.

Fiber Link / Low Optical Signal Failure

FiberLink and other optical transport products can lose their receiver link because insufficient optical power reaches the photodiode. Contaminated connectors, damaged or sharply bent fiber, excessive attenuation, incorrect fiber type, and degraded optical components are typical causes.

Video / SDI Input Signal Loss

DigiLink, InfinityLink, and FiberLink modules can stop transporting video when the incoming SDI/ASI or other source signal disappears or falls outside acceptable parameters. Typical symptoms include a dark signal LED, no output picture, video-loss alarms, or modules remaining in standby.

Optical Transmitter / Laser Failure

The transmitting LED or laser diode can cease producing usable optical output even when the unit remains powered. Artel identifies an unlit transmitter-link indicator as a key symptom of a nonfunctioning optical transmitting diode.

Backplane / Chassis Communication Failure

DigiLink and InfinityLink chassis can develop backplane faults that prevent power supplies or function modules from communicating correctly. A major chassis alarm with no corresponding module or PSU fault can indicate a failed backplane/chassis requiring replacement.

Overtemperature / Airflow Fault

Restricted airflow, failed cooling hardware, or excessive ambient temperature can push Artel chassis, management modules, switches, and power supplies outside their allowable temperature range. This commonly produces yellow minor-alarm indications and can progress to hardware shutdown or component failure.

Management / Firmware Configuration Failure

Management modules and function cards can become non-responsive or fail to produce an active output because of firmware, configuration, or management-control problems. Artel documentation recommends firmware management, checking module configuration, restoring factory defaults in applicable products, and module replacement/isolation when normal operation cannot be restored.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
