Arrakis repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Arrakis Systems, Inc. is a long-established American professional broadcast-audio equipment manufacturer based in Loveland, Colorado. The company specializes in hardware and software for radio studios, producing analog, hybrid and AoIP broadcast mixing consoles, audio-over-IP interfaces, radio automation systems, studio furniture and related production infrastructure. Its current product families include the MARC, H Series and ARC consoles, DARC digital/AoIP systems, Simple-IP interfaces, and APEX, Digilink Xtreme and New Wave automation platforms. Arrakis traces its broadcast engineering work to the 1970s and is particularly known for U.S.-manufactured radio consoles and integrated studio systems used by commercial, institutional, military and international broadcasters.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Fader Failure / Intermittent Level Control

Channel faders can become intermittent, noisy, mechanically worn, or stop passing/controlling audio correctly after extensive use. Arrakis specifically identifies switch and fader failure as a recurring hardware issue, particularly where controls receive rough or heavy operation.

Pushbutton / Switch Failure

Console switches can become intermittent, mechanically damaged, or fail to register reliably after repeated operation. Arrakis treats switches as common service items and recommends factory-level replacement where soldered controls are involved.

Power Supply Failure

External power-supply modules can fail completely or develop unstable output, resulting in a dead console, intermittent operation, or abnormal audio behavior. Arrakis identifies AC-line surges, lightning, and other power transients as major causes and specifies replacement of the sealed supply as a complete module.

Input Op-Amp Failure

An individual input may become silent, distorted, noisy, or substantially lower in level while other channels continue operating normally. Arrakis identifies input op-amp damage as a repeated failure mode, commonly associated with lightning, surges, or electrical transients entering through connected equipment.

Output Op-Amp Failure

Program, audition, monitor, headphone, or other output paths can lose audio or develop distortion despite upstream console functions remaining operational. Arrakis specifically documents output op-amp failures caused by electrical transients and uses replaceable amplifier ICs in several console families.

Microphone Channel IC Failure

A microphone channel may stop passing audio, become noisy, or otherwise malfunction even though line-level channels remain functional. Arrakis identifies mic-channel IC failure as a recurring fault and notes electrostatic discharge through microphone connections as a potential cause.

USB Audio Interface Failure

USB-equipped Arrakis consoles can develop loss of computer audio connectivity, failed USB recognition, or loss of record/playback audio through the interface. MARC-series documentation identifies the USB interface circuitry, including its USB codec, as a modular service area when USB functionality fails.

Channel / Module Audio Loss

Individual ARC or MARC input channels can stop passing audio while the remainder of the console continues to function normally. Typical hardware causes include failed input circuitry, ICs, connectors, module connections, or associated channel electronics after external wiring has been ruled out.

Ground Hum / Noise Problems

Systems using Arrakis consoles can develop pronounced low-frequency hum, buzz, or unwanted noise that may initially appear to be a console failure. Arrakis identifies grounding and ground-loop problems as particularly common causes, especially when power amplifiers, speakers, computers, and other externally powered equipment are interconnected.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
