Angelbird Technologies GmbH is an Austrian storage-media manufacturer focused primarily on professional film, photography, and audio-production workflows. Founded in 2011, the company designs and manufactures high-performance CFexpress, SD and microSD memory cards, SSDs, portable storage devices, card readers, and specialized recording media, with products engineered for sustained write performance, rugged operating conditions, and compatibility with professional cameras and recording equipment. Angelbird is particularly known for its AV PRO storage products, its Stable Stream sustained-performance technology, extensive in-house compatibility testing, firmware support, and in-house data-recovery service. Its products are used across capture, recording, offloading, editing, and mastering workflows, and Angelbird also develops custom storage solutions for professional imaging manufacturers including RED, ARRI, and Atomos.
Angelbird CFexpress, SD, and SSD products can become invisible to the camera, computer, or card reader. Reports include cards that suddenly stop mounting or return "no card," "unable to read memory card," or inaccessible-drive errors.
Recorded photos or video may become corrupted, unreadable, zero-length, or disappear even though the card itself is still detected. In severe cases, the camera subsequently requests that the card be reformatted.
High-bitrate recording can unexpectedly stop with a card or media error when sustained write performance is interrupted. Users have also reported recordings terminating after seconds or minutes and cameras refusing subsequent writes.
CFexpress cards, SSD2GO drives, and Angelbird readers may operate substantially below expected transfer speeds because of host configuration, interface negotiation, thermal conditions, or cable limitations. Windows write-caching settings can also severely restrict reader write performance.
CFexpress media can become very hot during prolonged high-data-rate recording or repeated transfers. Rising temperature can reduce sustained write speed and may contribute to dropped frames or interrupted recordings.
Angelbird storage devices may intermittently disconnect or eject during file transfer, leaving the host unable to remount the device until it is reinserted or reconnected. This behavior can also place the filesystem and stored media at risk of corruption.
A card may be physically functional but generate format, access, or compatibility errors in a particular camera. Angelbird specifically recommends checking camera compatibility, updating both camera and card firmware, and formatting media in the intended recording device.
Older CFexpress firmware can cause responsiveness, performance, temperature-monitoring, or compatibility problems. Angelbird has released firmware revisions addressing power-saving behavior, performance, temperature monitoring, lifecycle calculation, and other bugs.
Angelbird card readers and SSD2GO drives can fail to establish a stable USB connection because of the reader interface, USB port, cable, or host negotiation. Symptoms include no device recognition, reduced connection speed, communication errors during firmware updates, or repeated reconnects.
