Andover Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Andover Audio is a U.S. consumer-audio manufacturer specializing in compact, high-fidelity home listening systems, particularly products built around vinyl playback. Its range includes integrated record-player systems, powered turntable speakers such as the SpinBase line, turntables, subwoofers, music streamers, phono preamps, and related audio systems. The company emphasizes simplifying traditional hi-fi setups by combining amplification, speakers, connectivity, and record playback into space-efficient products. A distinguishing technology is its patented IsoGroove feedback-control system, which allows turntables to operate directly on or near powered speaker enclosures without the acoustic feedback normally associated with that arrangement. Andover’s engineering team has roots in established New England audio companies including Acoustic Research, Advent, Bose, Cambridge SoundWorks, and Harman

2 Most Seen Failures:

Turntable Drive Belt Failure / Slippage

SpinDeck and SpinDeck MAX units can develop a stopped, slow, or unstable platter when the drive belt slips, stretches, breaks, or comes off the motor pulley. Belt breakage has also been documented during professional testing of the SpinDeck.

Turntable Speed Instability

SpinDeck-series turntables can exhibit incorrect or fluctuating 33/45 RPM speed, causing audible pitch changes during playback. SpinDeck MAX documentation specifically provides internal motor speed adjustments, while owners have reported repeated speeding-up and slowing-down behavior.

No Audio / Missing Channel from Turntable

SpinDeck systems can lose audio in one or both channels because of loose cartridge leads, poor RCA contact, a partially detached stylus assembly, or loss of continuity through the tonearm wiring. Andover specifically lists cartridge and connection faults when troubleshooting missing output.

SpinBase Hum / High Noise Floor

SpinBase units can produce hum, interference, or elevated background noise through the phono or Bluetooth signal path. Early units were documented with excessive digital noise, while Andover recommends grounding, shorting plugs, and removing nearby interference sources when diagnosing noise.

Bluetooth Pairing / Connection Failure

SpinBase and Model-One systems can fail to pair, lose an existing Bluetooth connection, or require devices to be paired again. Model-One testing documented intermittent failed pairing and unintended input switching after Bluetooth disconnects.

SpinSub No Output

SpinSub units may power up but produce little or no bass because an internal speaker-wire connector can become detached from the amplifier assembly. Andover states that it has seen multiple cases where this connector came loose, including during shipping.

SpinSub Amplifier Hum / Noise

SpinSub amplifier faults can cause a persistent audible tone, hum, or noise even when no audio signal is present. A professional review identified a defective amplifier in a sample that produced an unwanted continuous tone.

Songbird Wi-Fi Dropouts / Connection Loss

Songbird streamers can suffer playback pauses, signal dropouts, failed network discovery, or repeated setup failures when the Wi-Fi connection becomes unstable. Andover's manual specifically addresses weak-signal dropouts and recommends resets, IP refreshes, or Ethernet when wireless operation remains unreliable.

Stylus / Cartridge Connection Failure

SpinDeck and related Andover turntables can produce no sound, intermittent sound, distortion, or poor tracking when the removable Ortofon stylus or cartridge becomes loose or its small lead wires lose contact. Andover specifically advises reseating the stylus/cartridge and checking the four cartridge wires when these symptoms occur.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
