Anchor Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Anchor Audio is a U.S. professional-audio manufacturer founded in 1973 and best known for rugged, self-contained battery-powered portable public-address systems. The company designs and manufactures portable speakers and PA systems such as the Liberty, Bigfoot, Beacon, Go Getter, MegaVox, and AN-series products, along with wireless microphone systems, conference systems, intercoms, assistive-listening equipment, speaker monitors, and lecterns. Its equipment is aimed primarily at schools and universities, government and military organizations, houses of worship, businesses, events, athletics, and other applications requiring quickly deployable sound reinforcement. A distinguishing feature of the company is its vertically integrated U.S. production in Carlsbad, where Anchor says it fabricates circuit boards, builds cables and microphones, assembles systems, and performs testing in-house.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Battery Will Not Hold Charge / Short Runtime

Rechargeable SLA, NiMH, or lithium batteries lose capacity with age, causing dramatically shortened operating time or failure to operate away from AC power. This is repeatedly documented on Liberty, Beacon, Bigfoot, Go Getter, MegaVox, and Mini-series systems.

No Power / Unit Will Not Turn On

The PA may remain completely dead with the power indicator off because of a discharged or failed battery, power-path fault, or related internal power problem. Liberty, Beacon, MegaVox, Go Getter, and other portable systems repeatedly list this symptom in their troubleshooting documentation.

Battery Charging Failure

The battery fails to recharge or the charge indicator does not illuminate, commonly associated with a failed charger/power adapter, blown fuse, charging circuit fault, or deteriorated battery. Older Liberty and MegaVox manuals specifically document nonfunctional charge indicators and charger/fuse-related causes.

No Audio With Power On

The system powers normally but produces no sound from microphone, auxiliary, or line inputs. Recurring causes include failed or intermittent input connections, input circuitry, switched speaker-output connections, and problems in the audio signal path.

Wireless Microphone No Audio

Anchor wireless receivers may fail to reproduce microphone audio even though the PA itself remains operational. Commonly encountered trouble areas include the receiver/transmitter link, beltpack or handheld transmitter power, receiver module, microphone connection, and channel synchronization.

Poor Wireless Range / Audio Dropouts

Wireless microphones and Anchor AIR speaker links can develop weak range, intermittent reception, or degraded wireless audio. Low battery condition, antenna problems, interference, and receiver/transmitter module issues are repeatedly identified in Anchor's wireless troubleshooting material.

Distorted / Clipping Audio

Audio becomes harsh, clipped, crackling, or otherwise distorted, especially at higher volume levels. Anchor documentation associates this symptom with excessive input or system level, weak batteries, connection problems, and faults affecting the amplifier or loudspeaker signal path.

Excessive Hum / Background Noise

A persistent hum, buzz, or elevated noise floor can appear through the speaker during operation. Anchor repeatedly lists this problem across its portable PA families, with input connections, grounding/shielding, microphone paths, and associated audio electronics being common areas of concern.

Thermal Shutdown / Intermittent Power Cycling

Some Anchor systems can shut down unexpectedly or cycle off and back on during operation. Manuals associate this behavior with overheating or inadequate battery voltage, while repeated shutdown despite a healthy battery can indicate power-supply, amplifier, or thermal-protection circuitry requiring service.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
