Ambient Weather, LLC is a U.S.-based designer, importer and marketer of consumer and professional weather-monitoring equipment and connected environmental sensors. Its core products include Wi-Fi-enabled personal weather stations, outdoor sensor arrays, indoor temperature/humidity and air-quality sensors, displays and related environmental-monitoring devices. Ambient is particularly known for its connected smart weather stations and the AmbientWeather.net cloud platform, which lets users collect, visualize, store and share real-time and historical weather data and integrate their stations with connected-home services. Nielsen-Kellerman acquired Ambient in 2019 and describes it as a market leader in weather stations and online weather-data display, serving customers ranging from home users to professionals.
The outdoor sensor array stops transmitting weather data to the display console or communicates intermittently. Common hardware-related causes include depleted batteries, corroded battery contacts, transmitter failure, or failure of the sensor array electronics.
The console cannot establish or maintain a Wi-Fi connection, causing data uploads to AmbientWeather.net and other services to stop. In some WS-2902 units, an absent Wi-Fi module status light indicates that the console's Wi-Fi hardware has failed and the console requires replacement.
Rainfall remains at zero, updates incorrectly, or unexpectedly stops registering. Debris, insects, a clogged funnel, a jammed tipping mechanism, or failure of the rain-sensor assembly are common causes.
Outdoor temperature or humidity stops updating, displays dashes, becomes stuck, or reports extreme values such as -40°F or 140°F. If fresh batteries and a sensor-array reset do not restore normal readings, Ambient Weather identifies the sensor array as requiring replacement.
The wind vane physically moves but the reported wind direction remains unchanged on the console. If the vane is correctly secured to its shaft and manually rotating the shaft does not change the reading, the sensor array has failed and requires replacement.
Weather data repeatedly drops out between the outdoor sensor array and indoor console, particularly at night, in cold weather, or at longer distances. Battery weakness, transmitter degradation, interference, obstructions, and failed sensor-array electronics can produce intermittent or complete RF loss.
The display console flashes, cycles, or otherwise fails to complete its startup sequence. After power connections are verified, persistent failure generally indicates a defective console requiring replacement.
The transmitter LED stays continuously illuminated, flashes abnormally, or does not flash at its specified transmission interval. If replacing batteries, cleaning corrosion, and resetting the array do not restore the normal LED pattern, Ambient Weather specifies replacement of the sensor array.
Corrosion at outdoor sensor battery contacts can interrupt power and cause sensors or the entire array to stop reporting. Degraded batteries and poor terminal contact can also cause intermittent operation, especially during cold weather or periods with limited solar charging.
