Altman Lighting repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Altman Lighting, Inc. is a long-established U.S. lighting OEM founded in 1953 that designs and manufactures professional lighting equipment primarily for theatrical, entertainment and architectural applications. The company is particularly known for stage and theatrical luminaires and has evolved its traditional fixture business into LED-based entertainment and architectural lighting. Its products include theatrical fixtures, Fresnels, cyc and wash lights, followspots, work lights and related professional lighting equipment. Altman emphasizes American manufacturing, durability and professional-grade equipment for designers, technicians, theaters, performance venues and architectural installations; the company describes itself as having more than 70 years of American-made entertainment-lighting experience.

2 Most Seen Failures:

No Light Output

The luminaire powers up but produces no visible light. Common causes include intensity being set to 0%, inactive lamp/output settings, an unprogrammed user-defined color, a closed iris, or problems with the connected dimmer/control source.

Low Light Output

The fixture produces light but at substantially reduced intensity. Documented causes include low local-control settings, dimmer upper-limit settings, calibration or power-limit settings, high operating temperature, incorrect voltage/dimming configuration, or optical adjustments.

No Power at Luminaire

The fixture does not power up at all. Typical causes include a de-energized circuit, disconnected AC supply, incorrectly wired power cable or connector, or another upstream power problem.

DMX Control Failure

The luminaire powers on but does not respond correctly to DMX commands. Common causes include an incorrect DMX address or operating mode, missing DMX data, damaged or incorrectly wired data cabling, or poor connections between the controller and fixture.

Fixture Stuck at Full or Zero Intensity

The luminaire remains at full output or zero output and stops responding normally to control commands. Altman documentation identifies control-board or DMX-control states that can require a power cycle to restore normal operation.

Color Mismatch Between Fixtures

Multiple fixtures receiving the same control values produce visibly different colors. A recurring documented cause is inconsistent color-calibration settings between luminaires.

Inconsistent Dimming Between Fixtures

Fixtures receiving identical commands fade or dim at noticeably different rates. This typically occurs when luminaires are configured with different dimming curves or related dimming settings.

Beam Distortion or Poor Optical Output

The projected beam appears fuzzy, distorted, uneven, or lower in intensity than expected. This can result from focus/zoom configuration, iris position, optical alignment, dirty optics, or other beam-path issues.

RDM Communication Failure

The luminaire operates but does not respond to RDM discovery or commands. This failure is associated with the RDM/control path and can involve configuration, controller compatibility, cabling, or data-network issues.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
