Allen & Heath repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Allen & Heath Limited is a British professional-audio equipment manufacturer best known for audio mixing consoles and digital mixing systems. Its product portfolio spans digital and analogue mixers, live-sound mixing platforms, DJ mixers, installation audio processors and associated control/I/O products. Its equipment is used across live sound and touring, installed sound, audio production, broadcasting, houses of worship, clubs and DJ applications. The company has a long heritage in mixing-console design, dating to the late 1960s, and is particularly recognized for its dLive, Avantis, SQ, Qu and Xone product families. Allen & Heath designs and specifies its mixers in Cornwall and maintains UK production while also using qualified manufacturing capacity in China for parts of its range.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Fader Wear, Failure, or Erratic Movement

Channel and motorized faders can become noisy, sticky, unresponsive, fail to reach their commanded position, or allow audio to bleed through when fully lowered. Reported across Xone and SQ models, with failures ranging from worn potentiometers and motors to fader-control board faults.

Power Supply Failure

Internal or external power-supply faults can cause failure to boot, intermittent operation, loss of audio, or complete loss of power. PSU-related faults are reported across older Xone mixers, ZED models, Qu consoles, and iLive MixRacks.

Touchscreen Failure or Loss of Touch Response

Touchscreens may continue displaying information while becoming partially or completely unresponsive to touch. This has been reported particularly on Qu and Avantis consoles, with persistent cases requiring screen or associated hardware service.

Noisy or Failing Rotary Potentiometers

EQ, gain, filter, and other rotary controls can develop crackling, intermittent response, dead spots, or unstable values as they wear or become contaminated. This is especially associated with heavily used analogue Xone mixers.

Filter Section Failure

Xone mixers can develop faults in their analogue filter circuitry, including loss of filtering, incorrect resonance behavior, intermittent operation, or noisy filter controls. Ageing filter potentiometers and filter-board components are recurring repair items.

Audio Output Failure or Distortion

Master, booth, or individual channel outputs can become distorted, intermittent, unusually quiet, or completely dead. Common hardware causes include worn output connectors, failed analogue-stage components, damaged op-amps, and power-related faults.

USB Audio Interface or USB Connection Failure

USB-equipped models can develop unstable connections, failure to enumerate with a computer, intermittent audio, or complete loss of USB functionality. This fault category is particularly relevant to Xone digital/USB models and other Allen & Heath consoles with integrated USB interfaces.

FX Processor or FX Board Failure

Internal effects can become unresponsive or stop producing audio even while the rest of the mixer continues operating normally. Allen & Heath documents FX-board recovery procedures for PA-series and MixWizard models, with persistent failures requiring service.

DSP, Mainboard, or Control-Board Failure

Digital consoles and MixRacks can fail to boot, display hardware-failure warnings, lose control of faders, or exhibit abnormal surface behavior when DSP, motherboard, or control-board hardware fails. Documented examples include iLive DSP boot failures and SQ fader-board/control failures.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
