Algo repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Algo Communication Products Ltd. is a Canadian telecommunications equipment OEM founded in 1968 that designs and manufactures network-connected IP audio and video endpoints for commercial and institutional communication systems. Its product portfolio includes IP speakers, paging adapters, intercoms and doorphones, visual/strobe alerters, IP displays and clocks, endpoint controllers, buttons, and related accessories. The equipment integrates with VoIP/unified-communications and mass-notification platforms using technologies such as SIP, multicast, PoE, and network-based device management. Algo is particularly known for IP paging, emergency notification, visual alerting, and secure door-entry endpoints, with deployments across education, healthcare, government, manufacturing, retail, transportation, and other commercial facilities. The company reports having manufactured and shipped more than 4 million telecom endpoints globally and also provides ODM manufacturing for client-branded products.

2 Most Seen Failures:

SIP Registration Failure

Algo IP speakers, paging adapters, intercoms, and visual alerters may fail to register with the SIP server, commonly displaying “Rejected by Server” or “No reply from server.” Typical causes include incorrect credentials, server/port settings, transport configuration, duplicate extensions, DNS problems, or blocked SIP traffic.

Network Connectivity / Device Unreachable

An Algo endpoint may become unreachable or appear offline even though the hardware is installed and powered. Common causes include incorrect IP/VLAN configuration, network path failures, firewall restrictions, or loss of connectivity to the endpoint.

PoE Power / Insufficient Power

Devices may fail to power correctly or may operate with reduced functionality when the connected switch or injector does not provide the required PoE, PoE+, or PoE++ level. Higher-powered speakers and displays are particularly dependent on the correct negotiated power source for full performance.

Multicast Paging Failure

One or more Algo receivers may fail to play a multicast page even though the transmitting device operates normally. Frequent causes include mismatched multicast zones, IP addresses or ports, incorrect sender/receiver settings, VLAN boundaries, TTL limitations, or switches that are not correctly passing multicast traffic.

Audio Output Failure / Incorrect Audio Performance

Speakers, horns, intercoms, and paging adapters may produce no audio, unexpectedly low output, or otherwise incorrect audio behavior. Power limitations, paging configuration, local volume settings, network delivery problems, and software/configuration issues are common contributors.

Firmware / Software Failure

An endpoint may remain reachable but exhibit abnormal operation because of a software or firmware problem, sometimes requiring a reboot, firmware upgrade, or factory reset. Algo's management documentation explicitly identifies a “Software Failure” state for reachable devices whose software error affects normal operation.

Provisioning Failure / Configuration Reversion

An Algo endpoint may fail to download its provisioning configuration or unexpectedly revert settings after reboot. Common causes include an incorrect provisioning protocol or server configuration, provisioning being disabled, checksum errors, or an old provisioning file repeatedly overwriting local settings.

Door Control / Relay Failure

Algo intercom and door-controller installations may fail to activate a door strike or other relay-controlled equipment when relay wiring, NO/NC selection, controller linking, passwords, or related door-control configuration is incorrect. The symptom can appear to be an intercom or controller hardware failure even when the endpoint remains online.

Legacy Model Compatibility Failure

Older Algo hardware can fail to register or provide all expected functions with newer hosted communication platforms because required security or signaling capabilities are unavailable. Examples include G1 8180, G1 8028, and G1 8128 units lacking the TLS/SRTP capabilities required by some modern platforms.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Algo devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
