Alcons Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Alcons Audio B.V. is a Dutch designer and manufacturer of high-end professional sound reinforcement systems, founded in 2002. The company develops and manufactures its systems in-house, including loudspeakers, line arrays, subwoofers, amplifiers/processors and key transducer components. Alcons is particularly known for its proprietary pro-ribbon transducer technology, designed to provide high-fidelity, low-distortion reproduction at professional/concert sound-pressure levels. Its equipment serves cinema, performing arts and theaters, fixed installations, houses of worship, studios, residential cinema, and touring/rental applications. Unlike many audio brands that outsource substantial portions of production, Alcons emphasizes vertically integrated development and manufacturing at its facility in Zwaag, Netherlands.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Amplifier Module Voltage Fault

The amplifier module detects an over-voltage or under-voltage condition on its internal positive or negative supply rail. The affected module shuts off and attempts recovery on a one-second cycle; persistent faults require repair.

Amplifier Output Overload / Short Circuit

An overload can occur when an amplifier output is shorted or the connected loudspeaker/cabling presents an abnormal load. The affected amplifier module shuts down and cycles its protection while the speaker wiring and load should be checked.

Amplifier Module Failure

The amplifier electronics can report an internal "Amplifier Fail" condition rather than a recoverable overload or voltage event. This places the unit into emergency standby and Alcons specifies that repair is required.

SIS Wiring / Sensing Fault

The Signal Integrity Sensing circuit can fault because of shorted wiring, crossed sense conductors, or an amplifier hardware failure. The affected amplifier module is switched off to protect the system.

SMPS / Power-Supply Failure

A switched-mode power-supply hardware fault can disable the amplifier, with similar symptoms also possible after a mains-power dip. Internal supply faults include DC, VDR over/under-voltage, and amplifier-ready errors.

Cooling Fan Failure

Failure or obstruction of a cooling fan places the associated amplifier channels into safe mode and increases the speed of the remaining fan. If both fans fail, the amplifier enters emergency standby.

Overtemperature / Thermal Shutdown

Excessive internal temperature triggers a temperature error and forces the amplifier into emergency standby. Restricted airflow, blocked fan intakes, or inadequate rack ventilation can contribute to the condition.

Mains Voltage / Start-up Failure

Input voltage outside the permitted range—including undervoltage, overvoltage, or unstable generator power—can shut the entire system down. Insufficient mains voltage can also cause a start-up fault in which the amplifier does not boot.

Internal Communication / I2C Bus Failure

A communication fault or locked I2C bus can prevent the front controller and amplifier/peripheral modules from communicating correctly. Symptoms include missing amplifier-module telemetry, loss of protection-status information, or loss of communication between the front panel and internal peripherals.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Alcons Audio devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
