AJA repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

AJA Video Systems is a U.S. professional broadcast and video-technology manufacturer founded in 1993 and based in Grass Valley, California. The company designs and manufactures hardware and software used throughout broadcast television, live production, cinema, post-production, ProAV, streaming, and remote-production workflows. Its product portfolio includes KONA and Corvid PCIe video I/O cards, Io Thunderbolt interfaces, Ki Pro recorders, FS frame synchronizers and converters, Mini-Converters, openGear cards, video routers, IP/ST 2110 gateways, streaming/encoding systems, HDR/color-analysis equipment, and associated workflow software. AJA is particularly known for reliable professional SDI/HDMI/IP video conversion, capture/playout, recording, routing, synchronization, and high-resolution video processing hardware, with products commonly integrated into broadcast facilities, production trucks, studios, editing/color suites, and AV installations. AJA continues to develop modern IP-based products, including SMPTE ST 2110 solutions such as KONA IP25.

2 Most Seen Failures:

No Video / Signal Detection Failure

Device powers on but fails to detect, lock to, or output an SDI or HDMI video signal. Common symptoms include black output, "No Video Input" warnings, intermittent signal loss, or recording being disabled despite a connected source.

USB / Thunderbolt Connection Failure

U-TAP, Io, KONA-connected systems, and similar interfaces may disappear from the host, fail enumeration, or repeatedly disconnect. Cable/port faults, host-controller compatibility, sleep/wake behavior, drivers, and firmware can produce symptoms that resemble failed interface hardware.

SDI / HDMI Port Failure

Individual video inputs or outputs can become intermittent or completely nonfunctional while the remainder of the unit continues operating. Physical connector wear, damaged signal-path circuitry, or failed interface components commonly present as one dead input/output or unreliable signal lock.

Recording Media Detection Failure

Ki Pro recorders may fail to recognize, mount, format, or write to installed recording media. Symptoms include "Media Invalid," "Unrecognized Media," "N/A," endless loading, read-only behavior, or refusal to begin recording.

Dropped Frames / Recording Failure

Recordings may unexpectedly stop, contain dropped frames, or fail to start when storage cannot sustain the required data rate or encounters errors. AJA specifically identifies underperforming media as a cause of dropped-frame alarms on Ki Pro hardware.

Power / No-Boot Failure

The unit does not power on, fails to complete startup, or becomes intermittently unresponsive after power cycling. Typical hardware suspects include the external power supply, internal power regulation, connectors, and main-board power circuitry.

Firmware / Device Recognition Failure

Hardware may cease being recognized by its host or operate incorrectly following firmware, driver, or operating-system changes. Symptoms include missing devices, failed initialization, frozen operation, or functionality returning only after power cycling or reinstalling/updating firmware and drivers.

Genlock / Reference Sync Failure

Frame synchronizers, recorders, converters, and other broadcast hardware may fail to lock to an external reference or repeatedly lose synchronization. Symptoms include "Genlock Missing" or mismatch warnings, unstable output, interrupted recording, or incorrect timing between devices.

Audio Missing / A-V Sync Failure

Embedded SDI/HDMI audio may be absent, mapped incorrectly, distorted, or out of synchronization with video. Input-selection mismatches, unsupported channel configurations, signal-path faults, and host-side timing issues can all produce this failure pattern.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
