Airpura Industries Inc. is a Canadian air-quality equipment manufacturer founded in Quebec in 2004, specializing in high-performance portable and whole-building air purification systems for residential, commercial, institutional, and specialized indoor-air-quality applications. The company designs and manufactures its products in Laval, Quebec, and is particularly known for heavy-duty cylindrical air purifiers combining large-capacity activated-carbon media with HEPA/H14/U15 particulate filtration, UV-C germicidal treatment, and, on selected models, photocatalytic oxidation technology. Its product families target contaminants including allergens, fine particulates, wildfire and tobacco smoke, VOCs, chemicals, gases, odors, mold, bacteria, and viruses. Airpura sells systems for homes as well as offices, schools, hospitals, laboratories, dental practices, and other commercial environments, and has developed an international distributor network while maintaining Canadian manufacturing.
The motorized impeller may fail to start, run intermittently, stall, or stop completely, resulting in little or no airflow. Motor wear, prolonged operation under excessive restriction, or electrical faults can contribute to failure.
The variable-speed control can fail, leaving the purifier unable to regulate fan speed or causing the fan to operate only at certain settings. Older Airpura 600-series units have specifically been reported with failed proprietary solid-state speed controllers.
Accumulated dust and debris can heavily restrict the prefilter, causing reduced airflow and increased load on the blower. Airpura recommends regular vacuuming and periodic prefilter replacement to prevent excessive restriction.
As the HEPA or Super HEPA media loads with particulate matter, airflow progressively decreases and the purifier may become less effective. Severe restriction can make the blower work harder and produce noticeably weaker output.
Activated-carbon media eventually reaches its adsorption capacity and stops effectively removing VOCs, chemicals, smoke, and odors. In highly contaminated environments Airpura notes that saturation can occur much sooner than the nominal replacement interval.
UV600/700, UV614/714, P-series, and similarly equipped models can lose germicidal functionality when the UV-C lamp ages, burns out, or develops an electrical fault. Airpura treats the lamp as a consumable component with an approximately 18–24 month replacement interval.
Loose components, foreign material, filter misalignment, impeller imbalance, or motor wear can produce rattling, scraping, humming, or excessive vibration. The symptom may become more pronounced at particular fan speeds.
A purifier may become completely inoperative because of a power-input fault, failed switch or speed controller, motor failure, wiring fault, or upstream fuse/breaker problem. Airpura specifically warns that powering a unit while switched on can potentially stall or burn the motor.
Improperly seated filters, displaced felt gaskets, or an incorrectly installed chamber cover can compromise the pressure seal and allow air to bypass the intended filtration path. The unit may continue running normally while delivering substantially reduced filtration performance.
