AIAIAI is a Danish professional and consumer audio manufacturer founded in 2006, focused primarily on equipment for DJs, music producers, musicians, and other music creators. The company is particularly known for its TMA-2 modular headphone platform, which allows major headphone components to be configured or replaced individually, alongside products such as the TMA-2 DJ and Studio families, Tracks headphones, Pipe earphones, and UNIT-4 portable wireless studio monitors. Its products combine Scandinavian industrial design with an emphasis on modularity, longevity, repairability, and professional music-production use. AIAIAI designs and develops its products from Denmark while documented production for at least part of its hardware line takes place in Guangdong, China.
Audio cuts out completely in the left or right speaker unit, often due to a loose internal wire, poor headband-to-speaker connection, or failed solder joint. Reseating connections may temporarily restore operation, while broken internal wiring requires repair.
The detachable audio cable develops an unstable connection, causing crackling, intermittent audio, or loss of one or both channels. Wear at the cable plug, locking socket, or internal jack connections is a common source.
Internal wires connecting the speaker driver and jack sockets can detach or develop failed solder joints. AIAIAI specifically identifies loose speaker wiring as a cause of no-audio conditions in both MKI and MKII TMA-2 speaker units.
Electrical connections between the modular headband and speaker units become intermittent or fail, resulting in channel dropouts, static, or complete loss of sound. Reseating the speaker units or headband connectors may restore the connection temporarily.
The mechanical pin system holding the speaker unit to the headband can loosen, jam, or stop functioning correctly. Loose pin plates, damaged springs, stripped screw holes, and fractured housings can require replacement components.
Wireless TMA-2 models can fail to establish or maintain Bluetooth or W+ transmitter connections. Symptoms include unsuccessful pairing, repeated disconnects, loss of transmitter communication, or unexpected wireless shutdowns.
Wireless models may produce clipping, static, crackling, or distorted playback, particularly through the Wireless+ transmitter system. Excessive transmitter input level is one documented cause, although defective wireless/headband electronics can produce similar symptoms.
Older TMA/TMA-2 components can develop a sticky, tacky, or goo-like exterior as the soft-touch surface coating degrades with age. The deterioration commonly affects speaker housings and other coated plastic surfaces and can eventually require refinishing or component replacement.
Headband padding and exterior materials can peel, deteriorate, or separate after prolonged use. Because some generations integrate the padding into the headband assembly, substantial deterioration may require replacement of the complete headband.
