AEOTEC repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Aeotec is a smart-home electronics manufacturer specializing in connected automation, monitoring, control, security, and energy-management hardware. Founded in Silicon Valley and now organized under Germany-based Aeotec Group GmbH, the company designs and manufactures a broad ecosystem of Z-Wave, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Matter, and Thread-compatible products, including smart-home hubs, USB/radio controllers, smart switches and dimmers, motion and environmental sensors, door/window and water-leak sensors, energy meters, sirens, range extenders, cameras, and related automation devices. Aeotec is particularly well known for its long involvement with Z-Wave and for becoming a major hardware partner for Samsung SmartThings, manufacturing and distributing SmartThings-compatible hubs and sensors after Samsung shifted its emphasis toward the software/platform side of the ecosystem. Aeotec sells its products internationally and states that its products are available in more than 100 countries.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Z-Wave Communication / Device Offline Failure

Aeotec sensors, switches, plugs, and controllers may drop from the Z-Wave network, stop reporting, or become unreachable by the hub. Failures can originate from RF communication problems, corrupted pairing state, firmware issues, or controller instability.

Smart Home Hub Boot / Hardware Failure

Aeotec Smart Home Hubs can fail to complete startup, remain on a red status LED, or repeatedly become unresponsive. Aeotec specifically identifies a persistent solid-red LED as a potential hardware fault when reboot and power-cycle procedures fail.

Battery Power / Premature Battery Failure

Battery-powered Aeotec sensors commonly become intermittent, stop reporting, or fail to power up as battery voltage deteriorates or an incompatible battery is installed. Some models are particularly voltage-sensitive, including MultiSensor 6 and different hardware revisions of Water Sensor 7.

PIR Motion Detection Failure

MultiSensor and TriSensor-family devices can stop registering motion even while their other sensing functions continue operating. Incorrect battery voltage, configuration corruption, PIR sensitivity/settings, or failure of the motion-sensing circuitry can produce this symptom.

Relay / Switching Failure

Smart Switch, Nano Switch, Micro Switch, and related Aeotec controllers can cease switching their connected load, remain permanently on/off, or respond to Z-Wave commands without actually changing the output. Relay-contact wear, overload damage, power-supply faults, or switching-driver failures are typical hardware causes.

Dimmer Flickering / Unstable Light Output

Nano Dimmer, Micro Dimmer, and wall-dimmer products can exhibit flickering, flashing, buzzing, incomplete shutoff, or unstable brightness with certain loads. Low-wattage LED loads, incompatible lamps, wiring conditions, or failure of the dimmer's power-control electronics can cause the behavior.

USB / Controller Initialization Failure

Z-Stick controllers can fail to initialize, disappear from the host, or produce controller communication and ACK timeout errors. USB-interface faults, firmware/controller lockups, host communication problems, or degradation of the stick itself can leave the Z-Wave network inaccessible.

Charging / Internal Battery Failure

Rechargeable products such as WallMote controllers can develop short runtime, fail to retain charge, or stop powering up after charging. Aging lithium cells, charging-port damage, battery protection circuitry, or onboard charging faults are typical causes.

Sensor Reporting / Incorrect Measurement Failure

MultiSensor, TriSensor, Water Sensor, and other Aeotec sensing products may stop updating measurements, report intermittently, or produce abnormal motion, temperature, humidity, light, or leak data. Power instability, communication problems, configuration corruption, contamination, or degradation of the individual sensing element can cause the fault.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
  2. 2 Per information known, researched and collected by Acme Revival and its systems at time of page publishing (September 14, 2026).
