Adamson repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

Adamson Systems Engineering is a Canadian professional-audio manufacturer specializing in high-performance loudspeaker systems for touring, concerts, festivals, arenas, houses of worship, theaters, and permanent installations. Founded in the early 1980s, the company is particularly known for large-format line-array systems, subwoofers, stage monitors, amplification and networked electronics, and its ArrayIntelligence system-design and control software. Adamson differentiates itself through unusually high vertical integration: loudspeaker engineering, cabinet and component manufacturing, CNC production, PCB assembly, finishing, electronics production, system integration, and testing are performed largely at its Port Perry facility. Its systems are widely used in major international touring productions and large venues, with the brand emphasizing high SPL capability, controlled dispersion, clarity, and advanced system optimization.

2 Most Seen Failures:

LF Driver Voice-Coil Failure

Low-frequency drivers can develop open, burned, or deformed voice coils after sustained high-power operation or amplifier clipping. Symptoms include loss of bass output, heavy distortion, or a driver that measures open circuit.

Voice-Coil Rubbing

Adamson Kevlar woofers, particularly older AW18-based systems, have been reported with voice coils rubbing in the magnetic gap. Moisture, corrosion, heat deformation, or alignment changes can cause scraping, buzzing, and distorted output.

HF Compression Driver Diaphragm Failure

The high-frequency compression-driver diaphragm can burn, fatigue, or become electrically open after excessive level or transient exposure. The cabinet then produces normal low-frequency output but weak, distorted, or completely absent high frequencies.

Woofer Suspension or Spider Damage

High-excursion Adamson LF and subwoofer drivers can develop fatigued, separated, or deformed suspension components after prolonged heavy use. Typical symptoms are mechanical noise, reduced excursion control, distortion, and asymmetric cone movement.

Amplifier Module Failure

Powered CS-series and newer intelligent Adamson loudspeakers can suffer faults in their internal Class-D amplification electronics. Affected cabinets may power up but produce no output on one or more bands, enter protection, or fail completely.

Power-Supply or Overvoltage Protection Failure

Internal power supplies and protection circuitry can shut down or require service following abnormal mains voltage, surge events, or power-distribution faults. Symptoms range from intermittent startup to a completely dead powered loudspeaker.

Cooling Fan or Thermal Shutdown

Powered Adamson loudspeakers rely on active thermal management, and degraded fans, obstructed ventilation, or accumulated contamination can cause excessive temperature. Units may become intermittent, reduce output, or enter thermal protection during sustained operation.

DSP or Network Audio Failure

CS-series intelligent speakers depend on onboard DSP and Milan/Ethernet networking, creating another possible failure point beyond the acoustic drivers. A cabinet may have power yet produce no network audio, disappear from control software, or show abnormal component/connectivity status.

Input and Connector Failure

Repeated touring use can damage or loosen SpeakON, XLR, etherCON, and powerCON connectors or their internal wiring. Common symptoms include intermittent audio, lost network communication, power dropouts, or channels that work only when a cable or connector is moved.

1 Acme Revival offers repair, service, and part rebuild opportunities for most Adamson devices.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
