ADAM Audio repair, service, and parts

Acme Revival is an independent repair network that operates separately from the manufacturers whose devices we service. Our independence enables a repair model that exists beyond manufacturer-controlled strategies, while preserving the ability to work with manufacturers where appropriate.

ADAM Audio is a German professional-audio manufacturer founded in Berlin in 1999 and best known for active studio reference monitors used in recording, mixing, mastering, broadcast, and content-production environments. Its product portfolio includes the T, A, and flagship S Series studio monitors, subwoofers, desktop monitoring systems, and professional headphones. The brand's defining technology is its folded-diaphragm ART/X-ART/S-ART tweeter, derived from Air Motion Transformer principles and developed to provide high transient accuracy, low distortion, and detailed high-frequency reproduction. ADAM Audio has built a strong reputation among recording engineers, producers, musicians, and studios for precise monitoring and German engineering; since 2019 it has been part of the Focusrite Group.

2 Most Seen Failures:

Woofer Amplifier Failure

The woofer stops producing sound or becomes extremely weak while the X-ART tweeter continues operating normally. This is repeatedly reported on A7, A5X, A7X and related active monitors and is commonly associated with failed woofer amplifier circuitry, PWM amplifier ICs, or the associated power board.

Power Supply / Capacitor Failure

The monitor becomes completely dead, intermittently powers up, blows a fuse, or develops unstable audio as power-supply components age. Older AX-series amplifier boards in particular have documented failures of electrolytic capacitors and power-stage components.

Buzzing / Crackling From Amplifier Electronics

A monitor develops persistent buzzing, crackling, static, or irregular noise even when no signal cable is connected. Recurring A7X reports associate this symptom with failing amplifier-board capacitors, power electronics, or other internal circuitry rather than the external audio source.

Loss of Low-Frequency Output

Bass output becomes dramatically weaker or disappears even though the monitor remains powered and high-frequency audio is still present. Failures have been traced to woofer amplifier sections, controller boards, power circuitry, and occasionally broken woofer lead wires.

Woofer Rattle / Mechanical Buzz

Bass notes cause a rattle, buzz, or vibration that becomes more obvious at moderate or high playback levels. Reported A7X cases include internal wiring contacting the cone as well as driver, cabinet, or mounting-related vibration.

Tweeter / High-Frequency Output Failure

The X-ART or U-ART tweeter produces little or no treble, becomes intermittent, or generates distorted high-frequency output. Causes can include tweeter damage, its dedicated amplifier channel, amplifier-board faults, or damaged internal connections.

Intermittent Audio / Thermal Failure

The monitor initially works normally but loses a driver, develops distortion, or begins making noise after operating for several minutes. Aging amplifier components, capacitors, regulators, and temperature-sensitive solder or semiconductor faults are common repair suspects.

No Audio Despite Power LED

The monitor powers on normally but produces no usable audio, or only very faint/distorted output. After external cables and signal-path problems are eliminated, ADAM's own troubleshooting guidance identifies an internal loudspeaker fault as the likely cause.

Woofer Lead-Wire / Internal Connection Failure

A woofer becomes silent even though its amplifier and tweeter remain functional because a flexible lead wire, connector, or other internal connection has opened. This failure has been specifically reported on A5X units and can closely mimic a failed woofer amplifier.

Connect with a technician.

  1. 1 Repairs are performed on a best-effort basis. Acme Revival utilizes a network of sophisticated technicians and engineers with diverse service offerings; despite this, factors that influence the repair outcome may ultimately prove unsuccessful. Acme Revival makes no claim that it can, guarantee a repair before your device is sent in for diagnostic evaluation; even then, repair and diagnostic work are not mutually exclusive. Despite well-intentioned quoting, repairs may still prove unsuccessful.
