ACTi Corporation is a Taiwan-based physical-security technology manufacturer best known for professional IP video surveillance systems. Its hardware portfolio includes more than 150 camera models spanning dome, bullet, box, PTZ, fisheye/panoramic, multi-imager, thermal, covert and high-zoom designs, along with analog cameras, video encoders/decoders, standalone NVRs and DVRs, network equipment and access-control devices. ACTi also develops its own video-management software, central-management systems, analytics and AI-enabled surveillance capabilities, allowing it to offer an integrated end-to-end security platform rather than cameras alone. The company is particularly associated with commercial, institutional, industrial and government surveillance deployments and emphasizes Taiwan-made and NDAA-compliant product options.
ACTi IP cameras may intermittently lose power, reboot, or drop offline because of failing PoE circuitry, marginal power delivery, or increased load when IR illumination activates. Persistent cases can require power cycling and may ultimately indicate failure in the camera's power-input circuitry.
Cameras may remain powered but stop streaming video or responding normally over the network until rebooted. This has been reported across several ACTi camera generations and can stem from unstable internal electronics, firmware interaction, or degraded network-interface circuitry.
Built-in infrared LED arrays can stop illuminating, producing a normal daytime picture but a completely dark or severely underexposed image at night. ACTi's troubleshooting material specifically identifies a non-working built-in IR LED system as a cause of black nighttime images.
The mechanical IR-cut filter can fail to switch correctly between daytime and nighttime positions. Symptoms include dark night images, incorrect colors, repeated bright/dark cycling, or a camera that remains stuck in day or night mode.
Motorized-focus and zoom camera models can develop persistent blurry images when the focusing mechanism no longer reaches or holds the correct position. Refocusing may temporarily restore clarity, while mechanical wear or actuator failure can make the condition permanent.
A failing sensor board or associated imaging circuitry can produce black video, excessive noise, distorted colors, unstable exposure, or no usable image despite the camera remaining accessible. These symptoms should be distinguished from lighting, iris, and configuration problems before condemning the sensor.
ACTi NVR systems can lose recordings, report disconnected storage, or fail to recognize a hard drive when a surveillance HDD deteriorates or fails. Continuous 24/7 recording workloads make storage drives one of the principal wear components in ACTi recorder systems.
ACTi recorders may fail to boot, become unresponsive after outages, or operate intermittently when the external adapter or internal power circuitry deteriorates. Replacing a defective supply can restore an otherwise functional NVR.
ACTi cameras and recorders can develop unstable or completely lost Ethernet connectivity from damaged RJ45 interfaces, PoE magnetics, or network-interface circuitry. Typical symptoms are repeated disconnects, inability to establish a link, or a unit that powers through PoE but cannot reliably pass video data.
