Reviving Vacuum Performance to Support Research Operations
What we did
Brown University’s Chemistry Department supports scientific research and education where dependable laboratory equipment plays an important role in day-to-day experimentation. When a Varian DS302 Rotary Vane vacuum pump began refusing to start—or stopping shortly after startup even after its oil had been replaced—the unit was sent to Acme Revival for evaluation. Technicians identified damage, failure, or a short to ground within circuitry responsible for the pump’s primary functions and recommended component-level repair or replacement of the affected circuitry to resolve the defect. Brown University approved the service, allowing Acme Revival to complete the necessary repair work. After servicing, the DS302 was tested and confirmed to be operating to factory specifications. The repair concluded successfully, returning the vacuum pump to working condition for Brown University’s Chemistry Department
