Reviving Thermal Cycling to Advance Genetic Research

What we did

The University of Arizona supports a broad research community where dependable laboratory equipment is essential to scientific work. When an MJ Research PTC-200 Thermal Cycler, an instrument used to precisely control temperatures during PCR applications, began overheating during runs, the unit was sent to Acme Revival for evaluation. Technicians traced the temperature-control problem to a faulty thermostat sensor, a component responsible for accurate temperature monitoring and regulation. Rather than replacing unrelated components, Acme Revival took a targeted approach and replaced the malfunctioning sensor to address the documented issue. Following service, the PTC-200 was tested and confirmed to be operating to factory specifications. The repair concluded successfully, returning the thermal cycler with the precise temperature-control functionality required for reliable PCR operation.
