Reviving Multiplex Testing to Advance Research

What we did

The University of California, Berkeley’s QB3 community supports research across the biological sciences, where dependable laboratory instrumentation is essential for experimental work. When a Bio-Rad Bio-Plex MAGPIX Multiplex Reader repeatedly failed its bead calibration despite a new bead lot and extensive cleaning, the instrument was sent to Acme Revival for evaluation. Technicians inspected the sensitive flow-cell and optical pathways, identified a disconnected chassis ground strap, and reattached it to restore proper grounding and improve signal stability. A side PCB was also replaced to support reliable system operation, while the instrument was prepared for appropriate chemical cleaning cycles without disturbing its factory-aligned optical components. The documented service successfully resolved the original complaint, returning Berkeley’s MAGPIX to proper working condition and extending the useful life of an important laboratory platform.
