LED illumination powered by batteries, better design than most manual lensometers, eyepiece is well thought-out.
The LM-8 provides solid competition for a dated Marco 101 with a better design and better eyepiece.
The Topcon LM-8 doesn’t nearly get the respect it deserves in the manual lensometer segment. When contrasted with the Marco LM-101, the LM-8 offers what we see as a better design, with a better eyepiece, and better though-out ergonomics. Yet the Marco LM-101 is still referred to as the ideal manual lensometer that has outsold any other to date. The newest revision of the LM-8 features an LED illumination powered by batteries with an internal reading and a well thought-out eyepiece that reduces shadowing and lash obstruction. We find the LM-8 a worthy alternative to the 101, and perhaps may even prefer it.
