Very affordable entry-level OCT pricing, still can bill full OCT exam, easy-to-use with simple interface.

Limited to only RNFL analysis; lacks heavily in features and tomography capabilities when compared to other OCTs; fragile. 

Despite being a very affordable way to bill OCT, the GDx is limited to RNFL analysis only, and has sensitive calibration metrics that deem it fragile.

Overview

Somehow, Medicare/Medicaid still allow GDx to be billed as OCT despite only producing RNFL analysis from a very simple scan. This is good news however for physicians seeking OCT reimbursement from a very affordable tomographer, and thus the GDx still holds its space in the market. If you need your OCT to do anything more than this, its best to look elsewhere. Despite its limitations, the GDx is easy to use with a basic interface that anyone can learn to operate. That being said, the scanning function does produce a rather annoying jet-engined-pitch noise emitting from the tomography laser, and thanks to a sophisticated tomography imaging scanner that was initially outsourced by Zeiss, calibration can run askew causing expensive repairs.
