The NW400 offers a simple, automated way to capture fundus images– with a beautiful screen, despite still needing external connectivity.

Overview

The fourth generation of Topcon’s Non-Mydriatic retinal cameras is much improved and modernized from the likes of its predecessors, NW200/NW300. With a stunning LCD touch screen, full automation capture/alignment mode, and the option to switch back to manual alignment in case you have an uncooperative patient– the NW400 is as versatile as it is easy to navigate. While it is not one of the most capable cameras out there, you can still create stereoscopic images and its low-flash intensity allows for sharp photographs without too much patient discomfort. Although there’s not a direct need for integration with external imaging software, Topcon really restricts the features of the NW400 by just using the camera as a standalone system. Despite its modernness and (nearly robotic) automated features, the NW400 is still rather basic for a new camera– with only a 45 degree field of view, requiring at least 3.3mm diameter pupils. However, we think its still a pretty good value- especially wearing the Topcon badge.
