Why would you want a handheld NCT? Alignment is more difficult than other handheld tonometers.

The PT-100 is the world’s only handheld NCT and for good reason.

Overview

When I first learned of the PT-100 I had a difficult time figuring out who would want such a thing. After all, there’s at least three different handheld tonometers that don’t use hurricane force winds to blast corneal reflex. Some however do require drops/tears and special alignments so perhaps a handheld NCT makes sense for those seeking quick and efficient non-contact IOPs in a mobile setting. But still, the PT-100 disappoints me: it’s not nearly as efficient as a traditional desktop NCT, and alignment takes some work. It does however perform well when alignment is correct and results are accurate. It is fairly lightweight and entirely portable and its stays charged long enough. But yet still, we think the ICare Rebound Tonometers are a better choice.
