Overview

Despite an incredibly robust and rugged design, the Newport HT-50 is incredibly portable, lightweight and ergonomic making it an ideal choice for mobile or home use. In fact, mobility is the best thing the invasive/non-invasive HT-50 has going for it. With a 10 hour internal battery life- and quick hour recharge time- combined with its 14 pound frame, the Newport is great for extended care, transport, hospital and homecare applications. Despite this slim chassis, there is no true user interface to speak of, just multiple analog displays that strike the novice operator as intimidating. Although the HT-50 is easy to use once adapted to its volume or pressure control gauge, it doesn’t show “breathing” as intuitively as some of the newer ventilators would. Although all the alarms you’d expect are built-in– the HT-50 lacks in automation that intelligently triggers discretionary alarms specific to relevant occurrences. Regardless, we see the HT-50 as a great value for adult and pediatric care alike.
