Overview

Despite a clinical scope designed for transport or ICU treatment, the GE Versamed iVent is wonderfully practical, portable, and self-contained. Weighing under 25 lbs. (11.3 kg), the iVent201, with its self-contained turbine and standard or optional extended internal battery, is an exceptional, transportable non-invasive ventilator. That is however where it stops. The iVent is not intended for invasive use, nor long term or non-dependent care and thus its market is narrower than most ventilator options. With that being said, it is refreshing to see a device with a limited scope that is well versed at one specific thing, rather than just decent at multiple functions. When first using the iVent, you’ll immediately notice how easy it fits on the trolley/cart and how well it transports with the patient. The iVent is also employed with features, such as Adaptive Flow and Adaptive I-Time to enhance comfort and reduce Work Of Breathing, friendly Easy Exhale feature to minimize problems of gas trapping, auto-peep and triggering failure, and 72 hour trending of all settings and monitored patient data– looping with freeze and overlay capability, respiratory mechanics (static and dynamic), programmable nebulizer and now built in SPO 2.
