Besides being similar in appearance to Reichert RK600, BARK-80 blends into a sea of all our other Autorefractors. A simple Google search of this instrument shows it may have been white-labeled, as it appears to be sold by another company called “Shin-Nippon” which makes us wonder if Burton didn’t have all the resources to make it their own?? When we called Burton requesting some clarification, they acted as if the BARK-80 was their estranged spouse they no longer “deal with.” Despite this confusion, BARK-80 has an adequate size screen with a simple icon-based operating system, a reasonably small footprint, and seems to provide accurate refractive measurements—making it practical for anybody looking to do just that. It moves and operates quite similarly to that of the RK600- which, is a god thing as you’ll witness in our review of such.
