Very well thought-out user interface, integrates with Zeiss IOL Master 500, easy-to-use in terms of biometry and ultrasound.

Still a contact biometer as oppsoed to IOL Master has benefits and costs, although a database is standard it almost feels as if its a ‘tablet’ that needs to be more of a computer.

Overview

When Zeiss announced that its new IOL Master 500 would integrate directly with the Accutome Accusonic A-Scan Plus, we were kind of confused. However Zeiss has realized that a patient not optically measurable meant a break in the workflow. With the Sonolink, the Accusonic achieves contact ultrasound whilst sending that data to the IOL Master 500. And that’s where I believe the Accusonic outperforms others in the Biometry isle. There is obviously a need for contact A-Scans paired with ultrasound pachymetry, and the Accusonic delivers this quite well. Despite a well thought-out user interface, and a large-enough screen, the Accusonic feels a bit like a tablet and not quite a computer of sorts. Saving and accessing patient is easy enough, however a keyboard is inevitably necessary and its at that point I believe you’ll wish the device felt more like a computer. The good news here, is the unit is portable and slim.
